Life is a Pain in the Neck!

..and shoulders...and back...and knees...

Ahhh! I finally had my first "adjustment" with the chiropractor today. Already, my lower back feels better. I can't believe how horrible the pain has gotten. I was hoping the workouts with the trainer would be enough to fix it, but apparently I need more work!

{this is what I feel like}
So I'm now on a chiro schedule to match my training schedule -- twice a week for the next 6 weeks! Yikes! Thank goodness I finally have some decent health insurance! Although I'll still be paying a pretty penny in deductibles and co-pays. But it's better than the "NO CHIROPRACTIC" coverage I had with my individual insurance plan.

I've had scoliosis since I can remember. I used to see specialists and had to do special exercises when I was growing up. But I don't think anyone ever told me I should continue those exercises for the REST of my life!!

Now my spine is curved where it should be straight; and straight where it should be curved. :( Ouch! My neck is so straight, it's actually starting to curve in the opposite direction. Not good!

Luckily, most of the pain and pressure on the nerves should be corrected with continual care. I'll still be crooked and straight in the wrong places...maybe just not so dramatically!

Keeping my phalanges crossed!

How are YOU feeling today?

  1. Oooh, I have the same problem with my neck. We were hit by a dunk driver when I was little, and knocked my neck out of whack, and I've had a lot of trouble with it ever since. Sorry to hear you're having trouble too! A good chiropractor can make a HUGE difference, though! :)

  2. That's awful! I still wonder if the whiplash I got when I was 20 also did some damage. The doc back then gave me pain pills and I was out of work for a couple weeks, but he never suggested any type of physio!

  3. Thank you for this post! I have scoliosis too. :( I wore a back brace throughout high school. Now I just deal with pain, sometimes stretching but never as often as I should. I really want to get into some physical therapy. I've never been to a chiropractor...I think the idea scares me.

  4. Ugh - scoliosis is the worse. I had surgery for it when I was 12 and I am now the proud owner of two steel rods in my spine. Fun. Glad to hear that you are getting some relief from the Chiro.
